Comparative Genomic Hybridization

Comparative genomic hybridization (CGH) is a more comprehensive evaluation for genetic abnormalities. It is also a procedure used in conjunction with in vitro fertilization (IVF) to screen embryos for genetic abnormalities before selection and transfer into the uterus. This method has the ability to assess all of the chromosomes for any abnormality that might be present in a given embryo. CGH testing can only be performed within the context of an IVF cycle and involves embryo biopsy.
