Ovulation Induction

Ovulation induction refers to the administration of medications to stimulate egg maturation and ultimately ovulation. Medications are used to stimulate the follicles in your ovaries to produce multiple eggs in one cycle (cycles without the use of medicine typically only produce a single egg). Various medications are utilized for ovulation induction including Clomid, Letrozole, Metformin, Parlodel, Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH), and human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG).

Production of multiple eggs has been shown to significantly improve pregnancy rates over traditional ovulation cycles. At The Fertility Center of Charleston, administration of ovarian stimulation medications is individualized to meet patient needs based on age, ovarian reserve, overall diagnosis and prior treatment.
